Too busy, too tired, too peopled out?

Since Easter, I have barely been keeping my nose above water.

I have been trying to keep Ember exercised, and the photo is her response to a 1.2-mile walk.

I have resorted to naps on the couch, and recently, I have a shoulder and neck complaining about that.

The woodpecker repair work is out a way, having now been rescheduled three times.  Now on the handyman's schedule for May 8th.

I survived hosting the kids' second Wedding Anniversary, with our alternate date landing on Prom night for at least one of the high schools in town.  This super cute couple were sitting across from us, and DIL volunteered to snap their photo together, at the prompting of her mom.  Clearly sweethearts, with the young man and young lady all dolled up for the occasion.

My nostalgia from my brother's running days has continued, and on Saturday the 26th (said Prom night), I put on his Boston Marathon jacket from 2018.  Today (Star Wars Day, May the 4th be with you) is our own local Marathon day.

The annual Mayor's run (1 mile, not timed) was Saturday the 3rd.  The family ended up skipping it, due to a bug felling first DIL, then my son.  DIL reports improvement Sunday.  Foster grandchild is hoping to have everyone OK for his soccer ⚽ game Sunday afternoon.

DIL and her mom are plotting a family outing for Mother's Day.  The day before so as not to interfere with Foster grand-kiddo's supervised visit with his biological dad.

Meanwhile, small things get ticked off:  car stickers for the next year of registration are on.  The estimated taxes got mailed off.  My general election (city/county) ballot got dropped off.  Both pets got their monthly dose of pest prevention (flea, tick, heartworm, etc.).  The important things get done, the energy limit is reached and the piles of "unmade decisions" (as Kevin used to call clutter) grow.  Blogs do not get updated.

My son sat for his licensure exam on Wednesday this week.  The unofficial result was that he passed, don't know how long before it becomes "official".

Meantime, hope you're all doing better than "just keeping the nose above water".

Life is good.  Keep Sparking!

Chilling on the couch with mom!

  3. Wow! Do I ever get that! Happy Anniversary to DS and DIL! The day before is the better day to celebrate. The restaurants will be jammed packed with all kinds of people who only celebrate on Mother's Day and New Year's Eve. Amateurs all who lack any kind of manners!

It HAS to stop raining. I HAVE to mow.

    Have a wonderful week.
    Happy Mother's Day!! next Sunday.

    1. Totally get the mowing comment, too! The grass just seems to grow faster in April and May! Especially when it's "too wet to mow" for several days running!

  4. Oh, so good to 'see' you again. :D I'm glad you've been busy and not ill. The respiratory bugs are making the rounds here.

If you're wearing out Ms. Ember, you are in good shape!! The picture of here with her head in your lap shows what a big girl she's grown to be; my goodness! Thank goodness you have her well trained and she's a sweetie. I get a mental picture of you sailing behind her like a low-flying kite if she was out of control on a walk. :)

Life sounds busy-happy; I'm glad for you.

    1. I have regained about 10 pounds from the lowest I got to last year, which believe it or not helps center me when I have to hold on for dear life. We encountered Millie, the Golden retriever, age 3, I think, up the block on our afternoon walk today. Millie was off leash and her hu-mom was right behind her recalling her. The two fur-friends managed to not get overly entangled and not to knock either human down while they sniffed noses and crotches, as dogs are wont to do. And yes, I'm starting to see a consistency in her behavior that bespeaks that the training is working. Fair warning: it always takes longer than you think. I might post a link to a video in my next blog, and I tried to film her practice retrieving.

And she wears me out, as well as I wear her out! Nothing quite like having a canine soul-mate.

  5. So great to catch up and I do know what you mean about pacing oneself. Hubby and I do most our stuff in the morning so naps can be had in the afternoon now. Have a great week!

    1. LOL! For sure. This morning I found myself apologizing to the dog who had me pinned to the couch with her head on my lap because "Mommy really needs to go take a shower". So much love! Have a great week yourself!

  6. Sounds like you have had a busy time. Congrats to DS and SIL on their 2nd Wedding anniversary! Wonderful. Sorry they were ill for the race.

Glad that DS’s licensure exam is behind him now. Good luck to him!

Been a very busy week w/DH having been in hospital from 24 April to 28 April. Now has home health care, home PT and OT. Progressing, but still long road to go.

    hugs and blessings.

    1. You and Jason are in my prayers... I've been following along in the google chit-chat thread; I read even though I don't post much over there.

      Blessings to all!

    1. Overall, yes, settling down. Why am I not surprised you went "on the road". I'll keep an eye out for said blog, just in case.

Right now, headed for a nap after morning walk. Scott says maybe Thursday for another session with Ember.

  8. I completely understand on the “baby steps” routine - it’s a fact of life for my low energy levels these days… Slowly & steadily packing the trailer for this weekend’s ride (one I’ll actually get to RIDE) so after this short break, I’m back to it since I have to spend tomorrow at the dermatologist (wear your sunscreen kids!) Le sigh!
