Huge weather roller coaster, from Spring (Saturday) to Winter (Monday) to Summer (Thursday) with a brief Spring on Tuesday and Wednesday. We got up to over 80℉ on Thursday afternoon. It also topped 80 on Friday and topped 90 on Saturday.
Ember is happy, as the deck chair is once again comfy for her. It was covered in snow the previous Sunday.
Friday, Ember and I went for a morning walk when it was 70℉, and she opted for a shorter route, about half the "long walk" distance we usually traverse. We went for a drive to pick up a prescription in the afternoon, and I got a kiddy cone at Dairy Queen, feeding the last few bites to Ember. The ladies in a car next to where I parked smiled, seeing me feeding the doggo.
Saturday morning was in the 50's. Went through our routines. Saturday afternoon in the HOT range, over 90. We got a leash walk around 11 a.m., and we again did the "split a kiddy cone" drill at DQ.
I could hear the wind whistling before I even poked my nose out of bed Sunday morning. Back into cooling temperatures and howling, gusty winds. Brrrr! But it was great weather for glow-in-the-dark fetch! Ember was flying to get the ball and bring it back to me for a treat.I was shivering filling the gas tank for Dexter, finding the price had increased by 10 cents a gallon in eleven short days. Astronomical Spring has arrived, when people want to drive places. The war that none of us voted for and that congress was not consulted about, that nobody even tried to sell us on is into its third week. Sigh.
Monday morning the temperature was below freezing when I got up. Yuck! Bright sunshine had Ember begging to go out and walk on leash, but it's too cold for her hu-mom's Reynaud's syndrome, so we substituted a rousing session of fetch from the deck. Funny how the chilly weather speeds her willingness to chase!
My 13-year-old Withings scale has died. It ran the batteries dry in a single day... twice in a row... and I had just replaced them fairly recently. Perhaps the weather fluctuations heat/cold where I have it placed have played a part in this, but it is 13 years old, too. I found a non-connected GE scale for about 30 bucks online. I have been spoiled by the app connectivity of the scale, but do I really need that feature?
Spring brings on the spending season: assessing what made it through the Winter and will make it another year, and what needs replacing. Not only the scale, but also a smartwatch will be replaced. A new dog bed and a new crate pad will also join the household.
The upcoming week: foster grand kiddo has an elementary program on Wednesday evening. I'm planning on giving it my best effort to attend. He is reading a snippet of poetry, as part of the program. It was so cute hearing how he practiced it, then asked DIL and my son to each read it aloud, too. Parenting... some moments are so sweet!
Here's one of them: the under the deck space at their house is now furnished with a hammock. All the men in the household (including the dog), curled up in it.
Next Saturday is the next big "No Kings" rally. It's going to be on the biking trail, two miles worth. Let's see if I make it... that is the plan, at least.
Life is good. Keep the Spark alive!

Ha! Here in TX, we like to joke around that you can experience all 4 seasons in a single day ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though - we had freezing temps last Sun & Mon, but yesterday it hit 94 degrees. Hello, summer!
Mother nature seems to like to mess with us no matter where we live! And you just provided evidence that Mother Nature even messes with Texas!
DeleteOur weather has been a roller coaster, too. We had 2 days in the 50’s, near 60 and yesterday and today, in the 30’s. Oh well, at least no precipitation.
ReplyDeleteGlad Ember is enjoying the nice outdoor temperatures! Miss Lilly did, too.
And lucky her to get part of a kiddie cone!
Yes, the price of gas is getting a double whammy from the war and the spring/summer gas formulation.
Yes, refurbishing in the spring takes a bite out of the budget!
Yeah, some parenting moments are indeed sweet!
awwwww, love the photo of the 3 men and the hammock! Awesome.
Yes, having a No Kings rally here, too. DD is attending. I am not able. But glad she’s going.
hugs and peace

I am glad that your family is representing at the rally. I am hoping that we have a good showing, and safe demonstrations, Nationwide.
