My bad toss landed this toy on the roof. Like the week after the gusty wind gave back the heavier rope toy. I can't take me anywhere!
Anyway, Thursday the 15th was a blustery day, and when I got Ember home from daycare, here it was, on the patio!
Ember was very happy to see it again and it became our evening fetch toy. And chew toy, too.
Meanwhile, in human "things" category, I figured out a "nice" place to hang the "reusable paper towel" that came as a Mother's Day gift. I hung it high on the refrigerator door. Pretty, right? It's supposed to replace 17 rolls of paper towels. You can see this one coming, right?
It became an immediate attraction to the puppy. She jumped up and pulled it down. Took her an eyeblink to steal that poor little paper thing, and less than a couple of minutes to shred it.
On the plus side, the resultant mess was easier to clean up than if she had actually got hold of 17 rolls of paper towels!
The daycare worker and I did manage to get Ember to sit on the scale at the end of Thursday. 83.6 pounds. Still not sure what optimal weight for her will end up being, but she has a waist. Her ribs still have some padding; she does not look emaciated by any stretch.
Friday was blustery as well. On our Saturday morning walk, Ember selected another wind fallen branch to bring home and turn into her next chew toy.
We took a second walk to make up for cutting the first one short.
And I played a bit more with the video of retrieves Saturday morning, too. By doing this I learned I never shut up, I narrate to my dog constantly!
Redirecting to find the ball for retrieve.
A distinct pause to look at the woodpecker hole.
Life's good. Keep Sparking!
Glad Mother Nature used the wind to return those toys to Ember!
ReplyDeleteHas been windy here, too. At least not as bad as it's been the last 2 days with the storms.
HOPE it's a quiet weekend.

Hoping for a quiet weekend, too. So far, so good. The weather in Missouri, just to our South and East... yikes for Friday night!
DeleteI think our own severe weather forecast is most likely landing on Monday evening, so praying the bee fixers are done with their work before that hits!
Hoping for your daughter's repairs from storm damage to be "within reason"... although we both know that these things aren't always reasonable at all, but we have little choice about fixes that MUST be made.
hugs and blessings back!
I wonder if Miss Ember thinks it's some sort of magic that toys disappear an
ReplyDeleted reappear in such a fashion. I often wish pets could speak human so we could know how their minds work.
Cool beans that you brought home a free, durable and ever-popular toy from the walk. Happy Saturday.
I sometimes imagine her thinking as she makes choices for her retrieves. If there is more than one toy out there, I see her sniff one, then the other, and make a choice which to bring back. This happens when she has failed to return one, and I toss another one without getting the first one back!
DeleteGreat videos. So sad about the Mother's Day gift. She'd make short work of the woodpecker if she could jump that high.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend! 🤗💖
LoL... Good thing she can't jump that high, then. Hope you are far from the most recent storms.
DeleteOh my gosh, what a series of adventures! It sounds like Ember is keeping you on your toes (and maybe occasionally up on a ladder, if the wind hadn't been so helpful!).
ReplyDeleteHow funny that the wind returned the toy from the roof – nature's way of saying, "Here, you dropped this!" I'm so glad Ember got her beloved fetch toy back.
nd of course, a good walk isn't complete without finding the perfect wind-fallen treasure to bring home. Ember has discerning taste in chew toys, apparently!
Ha! And the video review realization – you are definitely not alone there. I think most of us dog parents provide a running commentary on everything. They are our audience, after all!
Thanks for sharing your week's tales! Hope you have a slightly less eventful (in terms of flying toys and shredded gifts!) but equally happy weekend with Ember.
Happy Weekend to you! (((BIG HUGS)))
You have to be relieved when nature returns what it took away... Happy weekend to you, your mom, and Scooter.
DeleteI would be surprised if you didn't talk to Ember all the time. I do the same with Tigger. They really listen well, whether they answer or not (LOL) Ember looks so healthy and strong. What a beautiful dog. Sorry about the gift. There is only one place here that I can put cut flowers that Tigger cannot get to but that is it. Anywhere else is fair game. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteLoL... I'm glad I'm not the only one. When you live alone and a pet is your companion, it really is no great wonder you converse with them. With or without words.
DeleteI find myself talking and using the same terms of endearment with the cat and the dog. Both of them get called "little one". Both of them get asked rhetorical questions, such asking how they slept, if they are hungry, if they want to go outside or come inside, etc. I asked both of them to scooch for Mommy.
Have a great week to come.
Me too :D
