Thanksgiving Season Day 13 Gratitude

Today I am thankful for my cookbook.  It was a wedding gift, back in 1981.  I have gone to look at the "updated" versions of the same cookbook (Better Homes and Gardens), only to see such descriptions as "900 new recipes" based on today's eating habits.

Sigh.  This old one gives me the directions I first learned, with mom and grandma available to assess my progress.

It was to this book I went when I wanted to make pudding from scratch.  It is to this book I return when looking for the proportions and spicing for holiday standards.

It is not the ONLY source of favorite recipes, but it is the foundation, and I'm glad that I have it to rely on.
