Today I am thankful for goofy memes and t-shirts that re-awaken the math nerd in me and tie it to social fads. It keeps me in touch with the younger generation when I have to go "look it up" and discover that the square of 67 is 4489. Foster grand kid noted that the license plate number of his best friend's mom started with 6-7.
It's one of those funny things. I think I have the rap origin of it figured out, thanks to a YouTube video that I trust just a shade more than the rest... and I'm grateful that I'm interested and curious enough to go looking.
They can call me "OK, Boomer" all they want... I'll own it!

Yes, goofy memes and t-shirts are sure fun. Math nerd? That will never be me as I never got it and probably won't this side of heaven - LOL. From one Boomer to another - have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day! Currently sitting in my parlor with my coat on. Power to the house has been cut so they can replace the electrical panel. Fingers crossed for it to go smoothly. And grateful it's not because of a hurricane or tornado or flood. Just preventative maintenance.
DeleteLOL! Yes, I proudly wear the Boomer label. We rule!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness! Hope that the power doesn't have to be off for long!

Power came back on about 2 p.m., as predicted by the guy who estimated the work. And they are gone as of now, and I'm off to go collect Ember from day care!
DeleteThat's a cool shirt! My eldest g-kid would love it. We had our paired numbers back in the day... they were a little more risqué.
ReplyDeleteI am also of the "69" generation, and I thought about making some quip about inflation biting into our number... making it only "67" today? But naaaah... could get complicated trying to explain to today's kids the implications of "69", when the kids in question are only 7 themselves. And trust me, this kid would indeed ask!
DeleteThe YouTube I watched about origins referenced police codes in Philadelphia (or was it Pittsburgh?) where 6-7 implied a body found. Maybe your DH would recognize, maybe not, depending on how close local codes might be across a river and in a nearby metro area?
Codes can be different in various places, although 10-4 is universal!
ReplyDeleteMakes you curious how they developed... willing to bet some at least have a military origin.
