The street repair crews are here, in the chill of a Monday morning, the last day of astronomical Winter.
The practical result is that I'm "blocked in" for a while. I don't know how long. BUT, the good news is I don't have an appointment for which I need to drive until Thursday morning.
The personal trainer called off Tuesday, and I had already called of Thursday so this is a "no trainer session" week. Perhaps I'll dig up the dumb-bells to do a few free weight exercises on my own, but no promises.
When you get the trucks and machines, a work crew comes with it, and it turns out that this year, they are doing my pot-holes as a larger project. For some reason the street repair crews always seem to come before the other home projects I plan, so that the newly repaired street gets the extra weight of landscape work equipment this year. Sigh.
The Prisoner keeps a close eye on them.
Life continues to be good.
Keep a-Sparking, my friends!
No advance warning repair notice? That stinks!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you have a "watch" kitty on duty.
Tomorrow spring arrives. Sure hope somebody remembers to loop in Mother Nature. đĒģđ¤đ
Nothing verbal. They marked the street on Friday. They showed up this morning and started working on it. But no note, no doorbell visit, nope. This would not be alarming if the repairs went at the usual speed... generally a pot hole filling job takes minutes to an hour. But they are doing it as a bigger job this time. They still could be done by end of day.
DeleteThey finally came to the door a little before 2 p.m. to ask if I had a car I needed to get out of the garage for use tonight or Tuesday. I will be blocked in until about 6 p.m. Tuesday, per this fellow.
DeleteWell, glad someone from the crew checked in w/you! We had a major project last summer, but they were very good about letting us know about what was going on (but we had no prior warning!) Ah well, at least you have the prisoner keeping an eye on them!

You'd think they would ring the doorbell upon arriving in the morning and let you know what they planned to do that day, at least. They arrived just before 9 a.m., so it's not like they would be waking someone up.
DeleteAnd yes, Prisoner kept a sharp eye out. I'm fine being a hermit for a couple of days, as it turns out.
My guess is the 9 am arrival is to make sure homeowners got out to work. You could always park on the street if they weren’t done when you got home. Glad they thought to communicate by afternoon - maybe they saw you step out and realized not everyone is at work all day every day!
ReplyDeleteYes, but you think they'd leave notes on the door or something, out of courtesy for the workers who had been away so they know how long to plan for? Maybe they would have done had I not been home, though.
DeleteProbably the supervisors weren't there yet. You know the four guys that stand around and watch the one guy do the work? - LOL. Oh well, one less pothole at least. Enjoy your time in.
ReplyDeleteLOL! The gent who came to the door explained this was a new crew in training, doing residential jobs before they put them on an arterial street (where clearly they need to know what they are doing with the trucks and rollers, etc. and not get themselves run over in the process). It looks pretty good now (Tuesday afternoon), but it is not completely done.
DeleteDo you notice that when your trainer cancels, you're happy to have a 'free' day? I know I should work out on my own but somehow, it's a gift day, LOL!
ReplyDeleteFor sure. It gets me contemplating when to "retire" from having a trainer, and joining a gym again. But every time it comes to going again, I'm glad I have this appointment style (possibly artificial?) motivation. Life does keep evolving, doesn't it, and we have to adapt.
