Today I am thankful for vacuum cleaners, and brooms and dust mops, etc. All the cleaning tools we have to help us feel civilized! Tuesday while Ember was in day care, I rearranged the x-pen and cleaned outside the pen, around the edges of the room. Ahhhh... how satisfying!
The plan is to gradually introduce the furniture again, get it outside of the fence, if you will, as Ember becomes more reliable about not chewing it to bits. While she's a lot better than she was a year ago, she still chews when anxious if I'm not right on top of redirecting her to appropriate things to chew on.For the holiday week, she's getting an extra half day in day care, on Wednesday, and I shifted her Thursday appointment to Friday.
I have also been acclimating her to the idea that "mom cooks human food" and puppy sits or lies in her safe "hot zone" and waits her turn. She gets dog appropriate treats when she does so.

I get those things, yes, way better than say - a hundred years ago for cleaning. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteBonus: as I've got older, it's easier for me to convince myself to do things "now" as opposed to procrastinating. I still procrastinate, mind you, but not as much. Ember's presence in my life made me much better at not putting tasks off! Another thing to be thankful for!
DeleteI agree, the right cleaning tools are a great boon. My favorite is my vacuum...it's the best one for dog hair I've ever owned and after more than fifteen years it keeps on running. I replaced the head on it several years ago, as some of the bristles were a bit worn, and bought an extra set of the cleanable filters. (We live on the desert, so double dog hair and constant dust/dirt from wind and dirty doggy feet...you get the picture.)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Ember is getting to the age to be more mature/biddable. Dogs are such sweet company; the work to train them is sure worth it.
Happy Wednesday.
My sister sprang for the special "pet hair" version of my same vacuum model. I didn't spend the extra money. I think I've had my current machine for 15 years or so, and it's still serving me well, too, but since Ember joined my household, so... much... more pet hair!
