Autumn colors from the backyard

You don't even have to leave the backyard to see Fall colors.  My sunrise tree isn't quite to its peak yet.
Carl loves exploring the long grass / weeds, and sniffing out what might have been through here overnight.

The last blossoms of the season splash bright amid their expired plant-mates.
Meanwhile, just beyond the fence the squirrels have free rein.  They are cheeky critters that like to tease pups who are contained, aren't they?
Prairie grass and volunteer trees that haven't yet been cut back frame another tree that's turning.  In the distance you can see a tree variety that's further along.

Carl collapsed on Grandma's bed Sunday evening.  He'd had a busy day.  Monday morning he decided to be a lap dog while Grandma nodded, waiting for sunrise to take those photos, above.

Life is Good.

Keep Sparking!

  1. Mother Nature shows off her finery before it's put away for the winter.
What a life!! A dog's life is quoted as being miserable. Totally disagree!
    Enjoy the day! 🤗💕

    1. Clearly those who said that about a dog's life were NOT talking about the modern American suburban dog. Carl is not the only "spoiled" pup. He's not really all THAT spoiled... he's well-behaved. But he does have a lot of creature comforts.

  2. He's so danged cute.

I just remarked to DH that from my perch here in the lving room, I swear the tree across the street has gone from green to gold in 3 days!
My own maples decided to drop half it's leaves, brown-edged and sort of changing, last week. Now we are covered in maple seeds. And squirrels.

    1. Cute? Aren't they all? That reminds me, I met a "Chewy" at the dog park Sunday! This one is an Australian Shepherd-Poodle mix, and the name fits. Not huge, but definitely Chewbacca worthy coat!

Don't you love the Fall colors? I think because the warm weather (79*F here today) is lasting so late the leaves will barely turn before they all get blown off.

    1. He is! Grandma declared a rest day and we played in the backyard, in his Halloween weed maze. Lots of scent work there!

    1. He gives me something to write about that isn't laundry or grocery trips, that's for sure.

  5. I thought the same thing about how many colors are in the yard, but most of our leaves have fallen. You're colors are beautiful.

Have a great day! (((BIG HUGS)))

    1. I have the feeling that the leaves will fall and then the snow, very close to one another! The warm weather is lingering yet this week. The ten day forecast is telling us it will drop to a high of 43F by Halloween. That's more like October, isn't it?

Plans versus actuals

This is one that could have been predicted:  I got out the hose and filled the kiddie pool while Ember was finishing one of her puppy naps...
