Thanksgiving Day, USA edition, 2025

The cheese puffs a-baking on Wednesday.  I managed not to devour them all before Thursday's gathering.  For this I am thankful.

Ember had a day care day that ended early (they closed at 3 p.m. Wednesday).  She was happy to see me.  For this I am thankful.

Thursday morning in the dark and quiet. Ember went out to take care of business in the backyard.  I went with her in my puffy coat and did not freeze.  It was peaceful.  Now she's curled up on the couch next to me, a warm presence.  For all of this I am thankful.

Christmas decorations and songs have been encroaching for a couple of weeks now.  But I don't mind.  Thanksgiving and Christmas tend to go together, in a Continuum of holidays.  I am thankful for the insights of age, recognizing the rhythm of the year.

Wishing you all a blessed Thanksgiving in the US and all around the world.

    1. It was a lovely day. Saw people "from a distance" as I wasn't feeling my best and didn't want to share whatever it is, but delivered the cheese puffs and hope the gather enjoyed them.

    1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, as well. Cheese puffs were wonderful. They are a lot of work, but when I go through it and taste the product, I'm glad I did it.

    1. It was a lovely week, in fact, as the weather started acting more like the calendar says it should. Didn't get out for Thanksgiving dog walk until about 2 p.m. and we had "adventures" with a retriever retrieving something that I did not send her to retrieve. I had her load up into the car when we got home, and we took a little trip to pick up the glove from where she dropped it and deliver it two blocks further away to the house where she had picked it up.

Hope you all stayed safe on the roads on Thursday!

  6. I enjoy "seeing" your cheese puffs. I'd devour them, my trigger foods. I enjoyed and ate way too much stuffing today. Little else, but savory breads get me. I made my famous cinnamon/raisin/sticky buns. Had the only one I'll eat and won't have any more. I left the stuffing at DD2's house so I wouldn't eat all that!

    1. I dropped off the whole batch, less one that I sampled, at Alicia's gather, but I had enough leftover dough to make a few with olive centers for myself. Yum!

      Good self-control, on your part.
