Today I am thankful for whatever soft, fluffy, gentle comfort thing there is to offer comfort when anniversaries like this one roll around. Fort Hood families from November 5, 2009, reach out to one another, this is a tough date.
Got a pet? A loved one in the household? Hugs and snuggles are good. Comfort foods? Allowed. A drink for a fallen comrade? Yep! Whatever it takes to honor and hold on. And remember to breathe.

Huge hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I have checked in with several of those I still keep in contact with online... as we put memorial photos up for the day and just remember...
DeleteMy neighbor walked by with his latest black lab (he's on his 6th or 7th since I've known him). The 8 month old was walking with a huge stick in his mouth. Must be in the breed.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yes, it does appear to be a breed characteristic to like to carry things! Like pumpkins? And bird dummies... and sticks... the bigger the better! And it makes us smile when they do this, so no wonder they repeat it. They always look so proud!

Thanks. I know you have a similar anniversary in your own memory banks, so you know the echoes that can show up "around that time".
DeleteAh, yes - looks like we can find a tragedy to line up with almost any day!?! But Ft Hood is about 20 mi N of Parrie Haynes (last weekend’s ride venue), so I drive nearby there…
ReplyDeleteI’m way behind catching up on your blogs, need to cultivate that attitude of gratitude myself!

Happens to us all... every so often I find myself reading a current blog and thinking "I missed a chapter or two!"
