Day 14 - Today I am thankful...

Today I am thankful to have the household back to its full complement of one puppy, one kitty, and one hu-mom!

Ember seemed pleased to come home, but also tired from all her playing for two days at the day care where she boards.  She retreated into her x-pen and gnawed on her bone, which is where I snapped this photo.

We had a short walk on Sunday morning, during which I felt cold.  Autumn and freezing has been late in arriving, but the chilly mornings are here, for sure.

This is the morning of the Good Life Halfsy, a half marathon event that I participated in several years.  So if I want to go out and get some artificial tears that are more suited to what I need this week, I need to go to a different pharmacy than the closest one (which was out) and the second closest one (which is blocked off for the race).  I am thankful that there are options, that I can drive with my "old" glasses, and that medical technology has got to the point where our vision can be helped when we develop things like cataracts and glaucoma!

Life is good.  Spark on!

  1. Awwwww, sounds like Ember did really well in her daycare!

Yes, cold here, too, this morning. But, definitely could be worse!

And sounds like you’re doing well after your surgery. Great news.

HUGS and blessings and clear vision!

    1. Ember bounced right back and was fully ready to take on her activities on Sunday! I'm being just a shade cautious... still need to wear the eye guard when sleeping, I am told, for another night, anyway. But as with the first one, the vision is Ba-ack, as soon as the patch came off.

  2. Hi Barb, So glad that your surgery went well with no surprises; it is wonderful what surgical options are available to us! I know Ember is thrilled to be home but not so sure The Prisoner was equally as thrilled to see her….both loving their hu-Mom and keeping her busy every waking hour! Hope you have a pleasant and restful Sunday. Eissa7/Karen

    1. LOL! You are exactly right... The Prisoner was very suspicious of the dog's return! And yes, these two keep me on my toes. But all seems to have gone well on Sunday with the reintegration.

Still hitting the low 90's here. Mornings cooler ranging in mid-60's to mid 70's.

Comfortable feeling when all the residents are home together again.

Looking forward to getting better eyesight with cataract removals. Sound like your recovery moving along smoothly. Formulary pharmacy recommended by Eye Physician has free delivery.

    1. Our highs are now in the 70's, which is closer to "normal". Glad you are getting your cataracts taken care of, too. Here's hoping you have as good a surgeon and as smooth an experience as I have had.

  4. Even though you only wear it while sleeping, be wary of the pup attacking the eye patch. She has a talent for escaping at the least convenient of times. Speedy recovery wishes for you. ðŸĪ—💖

    1. No worries. She is crated while I am wearing it... I already thought of that, and thank goodness she's been crate trained from day one!

    1. Ember is doing very well, thank you. She has melted my heart a couple of times by choosing to take naps in her wire crate since coming home. I felt a little bad transferring her to the plastic one to go to the grocery store a little bit ago, but to be honest, I don't want her to have any "bad" experiences with the wire one, so I'll let her nap there when I'm puttering around the house, but when I leave, I want her in the one she's used to.

  6. It’s great to hear that Ember is back home and settling in! It sounds like she had a fun-filled couple of days at daycare. ðŸĶīðŸū

I can definitely relate to the chilly mornings! ðŸĨķ It’s a bit of a shock to the system when the seasons change so quickly.

I'm so relieved to hear you're doing better. It's been tough, but you're a fighter!

Have a lovely day! (((BIG HUGS

    1. To be honest, cataract surgery is one of the easier procedures in life. The results (for me, anyway) are immediate, and while it can take several weeks before full healing is done, I've never had any pain associated with it. Yeah, the eye shield is a bit of a nuisance the first couple of days, but well worth it for the improved vision!

  7. Yup, I am wearing my mask on my morning walk to keep my teeth from aching when I get back inside. Great idea from covid time. Anyway, glad to hear that all is back to normal and all went well. Have a great week.

    1. LOL! I hadn't thought of that in a while, but you're right, a mask is good for warmth, too. It's why my brother grew a beard... and I remember him posting photos of himself with icicles in the beard!

Have a great week yourself, up there in the frigid Northland!

Day 18 - Today I am thankful

Today I am thankful that I am short and the couch is long enough for me to nap on.  Seriously, when the need is there to nap on that big old...
