Aftereffects from yesterday seem minor, yes, when I remember that I took a small tumble at the paws of the pup, I can take inventory and draw conclusions, but I'm not sidelined by that issue.
The challenge of rain is that Ember doesn't like it and doesn't like going out in it to do her business. Being both stubborn and sometimes practical, I invested in a package of "pee pads". Today might be a good day to attempt to introduce them. Wish me luck, friends.
Today's adventure will be taking Dexter (the car) in for his semi-annual oil change, etc. I don't put enough miles on him to make this necessary, but it gives me a chance to have them "fix" the air pressure sensor. Honda Fit models of his era have a very sensitive indicator, and it comes on when the temperatures first start to drop. If I don't have them adjust it twice a year, it is completely unreliable for its intended purpose.
Life is good. Spark on!
Hubby had a dog that just would not do her business if it was raining, outside or in. She would hold it no matter how long it took and then once over would run out and let it all go. He could not believe how she would manage this no matter her age or anything. Hopefully the pads are good for Ember. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't done any training with the pads, but left one out for her to sniff, in the basement near where she goes when she is avoiding going out. She ALMOST did it right, getting one plop onto the pad, and the rest of the pile just off it! I'm calling that a qualified first success. Thankfully, she did the peeing outside, even in the rain.

DeleteI use pee pads when it’s way too cold out for Miss Lilly, or the snow is too deep. She used them as puppy, and doesn’t mind using them on those inclement days. Wishing you good luck!

This was a challenging day, with the rain and restricted activity. Felt totally discouraged after Aunt Alicia's visit as Ember has decided that she's OK to play with the way she USED to play with me, jumping up on her back when she's trying to teach the "no attention" if you jump up lesson. Alicia gave up on Ember, and Ember lost her Auntie privileges.
DeleteTime to go back to the training drawing board. This dog is too big to have to learn this lesson one person at a time.
