Day 39 - Today I am Thankful...

Today I am thankful for warm clothing, a working furnace, and baking season!  It's below freezing out there in the pre-dawn morning on Thursday, and my trainer texted me that the heat is still not working at the gym (they are waiting on a part).  Fortunately, it hasn't been as cold as it CAN be this time of year, so it was 50℉ when he got there at 8:15 a.m.  No problem, just wear long sleeves for my workout.

Somebody who lives at my house seems to think it should not matter how cold it is outside; she wants to occupy the threshold.  It was 36F when I snapped that particular photo, and even colder when we had our most recent mom-puppy "discussion" about gloves.

Still, we managed a fairly quick around the block morning walk, but then Mommy balked at anything beyond back yard play for the rest of the day.

Puppy is now put down for pre-bedtime chill time in her crate so her hu-mom can go have family dinner with the other humans at a restaurant.

Life is good.  Spark on!

  1. I think you must have passed along a virus by way of your posts. This morning, my clothes dryer finally bit the dust. Can breakdowns be contagious?? I'm grateful that I found a replacement online and didn't have to brave the wind and cold to shop for a new one. Delivery and install next week...maybe.

Birthday supper with family? (I get my exercise jumping to conclusions.) Have a grand time!! 🎂💖🤗

    1. OMG... yes, birthday buffet, also celebrating Foster Kiddo's visit to the eye doctor. He's going to get reading glasses. Oof, ate more than "enough". But I did palm off the last of the cookies!

    2. Also, I swear breakdowns come in 3's, like the old saw about passings. Don't let your dryer talk to mine, as those are the next two on my list... washer and dryer... that could bite the dust. Bought them in 1999.

  2. Sorry!! I should have put a smiley face in the message. That was all tongue in cheek. I hope you got that. Tone is difficult with the written word.

    1. LOL... yes, I got the tongue in cheek tone. Good job, considering the written medium!

  3. It dawned on me Ember gets her first good snow soon! Good luck when that happens.

    1. Ember did get one snow out in Broken Bow with her litter mates, before she came to me the end of March. But it will be her first here. This morning she discovered ice in her outside water dish for the first time. I didn't get photos of her interaction, but I was amused.

  4. Yes! Definitely grateful for warm clothes and a working furnace!

OH no. The continued discussions about gloves. Ember! Mom needs those to take you out when it’s cold!

Hope you had a good time @ the restaurant.

    Happy FriYaY

    1. Ember took it a step further Friday morning, fishing one of the gloves out of my pocket as I sat down to breakfast. I managed to retrieve it from her, but not before she retreated into her X-Pen with her prize. I can't guarantee she's learned yet. Still, there is improvement, and for this I am grateful.

  5. Tigger likes to sit that way in the colder weather, certainly a good thing that she doesn't like to do it too long. Have a great day!

    1. Generally Ember tires of it and I scurry over to close the door!

  6. Several of our dogs like to lay that way, but have been content to lay there even if the sliding door is closed... we say they are watching tv. Roxey, who is one of them, likes the blinds on windows open just a bit so she can see out the side and front where the windows are low enough...our busybody.

    1. She wants the full peripheral view! And probably the scents, too. Fortunately, most of the chillier days she has tired of it in a few minutes so I could go close the door.
