Mom's choices on New Years Eve Day, while Ember was in daycare:
- Goes to work out with her personal trainer.
- Takes an unhurried shower... ahhh!
- Gathers up all the dog towels and blankets used as "hot zones" and bedding to launder.
- The Prisoner supervises, of course! (He had the run of the house while Ember was "at school" but did not leave the laundry room, even though the door was open.)
- Gets a haircut.
- Unpacks a box of stuff on "autoship" from Chewy, without canine interference!
- Breaks down a few corrugated cardboard boxes to recycle and takes them to the recycle center.
- Cooks her own lunch without canine interference!
- Runs the dustmop to collect dog sheddings.
- Brings in the mail without canine interference!
This could be addictive! When I went over to collect Ember, I got a good report on her activities. Seems she played with a Silver Lab named Milo and they "played hard" according to the staff member. She's a lab person, this gal, says her parents have a collection of many colors of labs, most recently a silver.
This certainly encouraged me. The fee for day care is the same if I have her there for an hour or for the entire day, so... why not? I booked reservations for Thursday, and for next week Tuesday and Thursday as well. Two weeks' worth should give me a pretty good idea of whether this can be our next plan!
The haircut! The gal who cut it did my hair last time, too. She has border collies (2 of them)! We chatted about doggy things.
Happy New Year, 2025
Went to bed at the normal time, woke a few times overnight and noted the fireworks as various people do that sort of thing, but slept well. Now it's 5:30 a.m. and time to start a fresh, new year!
Life is good... Sparkle on and have a great 2025!
Time for you...a great way to start the new year. Poor Kitty offers his help. He's such a handsome fellow.
ReplyDeleteHave a great new year. π️πΊπ€π
Gotta say I love my kitty. He's "getting up there" as am I, but he's still pretty fit for his age and living situtation!
DeleteSounds like that daycare was just right for both you AND Ember! Success! Well, yes I guess a few more sessions before declaring success!
ReplyDeleteThe haircut looks good! Glad you and the stylist could talk DOGS. Fun!
Glad that the fireworks didn’t bother Ember!
Here’s to a fabulous New Year of health and joy.

Yes, a few more sessions to see how this will hold up. A monkey wrench just got thrown in by an increase in the personal trainer rates of more than 10%. Yikes. I think that means I'm going to drop the personal training, and join a gym, instead. I know how/what to work out, I've just allowed myself this luxury for the past five years!
DeleteHappy 2025, Barb! Glad you made such good use of your time while Ember enjoyed her play camp day out….seems like you have decided on a new workable plan to meet Ember’s activity needs. This gives you 1:1 time with Prisoner, time to accomplish what needs to be done, as well as time to relax and focus on your own needs while Ember is safe, active, and happy. Perfect!! Have a great 1st day of our new year! Eissa7 (Karen)
ReplyDeleteHope you have had a good New Year's Day, too, Karen, despite what I'm now seeing on the news. Yoiks! Picking ourselves up by the bootstraps and hoping the year does not continue in this vein.
DeleteSounds like the doggy daycare is a good thing!!! Kind of like having a day out without the children...love them but having a break from the constant momship is good.
ReplyDeleteAwe, Prisoner probably loves the alone with Mom time.
Happy New Year to you!!
It might just be what I need to do, to make sure Ember gets the activity she needs while I stay safe myself.
DeleteWow, you got a lot done while your pup was at daycare! Good for you! Have a wonderful year ahead! Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI kept reminding myself that it doesn't ALL have to be done in one day, it needs to be paced out!

ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Sounds like you closed out 2024 with a serious 'git-er-done' list.
The daycare deals looks promising as a win-win for you, Ember & Prisoner.
'Medicalizing' here for the start of the year. Eight appointments in January (includes 2nd cataract removal and procedure to check bladder + a few annual follow-ups). If no new growths I will be doing another round of treatments in February, otherwise back to the surgical biopsy route.
Youngest sister coming over tomorrow to help put up the Christmas decorations.
I read your blog daily but don't always comment.
Susan
Susan, I'll keep those prayers coming and my fingers crossed for good news from the medicalizing for you! I'm always glad to see your comments whenever you post them. Wishing you luck with the cataract surgery... and that the insertion of the IV is smoother with the second one!
DeleteHow nice to have sisterly help with putting Christmas away!
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Looks like you were able to get a lot of things done while Ember was out. It sounds like the pup daycare is working for her and giving you a break.
Wishing you a happy 2025! (((BIG HUGS)))
I have my fingers crossed about day care. Today she's booked again (Thursday).
DeleteBig hugs and Happy 2025 to you as well!
Hi Barb, Love the haircut and your glasses! Sounds like you have some good options for gym and puppy free time. I have taken to doing youtube videos at home while I was sick (for 2 months)! I know it's not the same, but theres a lot out there. Happy New Year. I will write again one of these days. I did start one and well......still sitting in draft
ReplyDeleteLOL! Still sitting in draft, indeed. Happy New Year to you and yours!
