Emberville Tuesday

Mom, do you see what's happening out in the yard?  Seriously, there's a cat out there!  This was in the 6 a.m. hour again.

Ember had a good early walk before it got too hot.  Mom got to her trainer workout on a "high" of having had angel puppy in residence ahead of time.  She didn't want to go out in the hot sunny yard after mom got home.  Mom unfortunately indulged her reluctance and then missed doing something about seeing the signs of the next need, and so Ember went back into the den for mom to clean up a carpet pee.

Mom, what do you mean I don't fit on this step any more?

Seriously, those paws and that snout can now top the kitchen counter, when she goes up on her hind legs.  Mom does not stop to snap a photo because she does not want to encourage counter surfing.

Ember snatched the dishcloth a couple of times but soon got tired of the game because Mommy would not give chase or play tug with it.

The Prisoner got his flea / multi-pest treatment today.  I actually took it outside, called him, and applied it.  Back in the day I had to trap both him and Rubia to treat them.  There are advantages to geriatric pets... nothing phases them, if they trust you.

Meanwhile the young ones are still learning to trust you!

Life is good.  Spark on!

  1. The counter surfing can cause waves of problems in the future. (Bad pun intended.) Have a wonderful evening. πŸ€—πŸ’–πŸΆπŸ˜Ό

    1. LOL! I know!

I just stare at her and intone, "Where do your paws belong, Little Miss?" or "You know 'off'!" Or something similar. I pick up her paws, put them on the floor, and say "Paws down", or "on the floor". I swear she understands me when I reason with her.

Tonight after "last call" we had a negotiation about what treats she needed to go back into her den. She seems to like it when I volunteer to carry her "like a puppy", and I like the closeness of that, the soft fur and the tickling tongue, as long as we have this understanding about keeping the teeth to herself! But she's a chunk these days, too.

  3. Ah well, sounds like Ember still did pretty well, despite the one mishap!

Yes, clearly looks like Ember has OUTGROWN the steps! LOL How does that happen, eh!

Awwww, glad that Prisoner was cooperative w/her flea/tick treatment. Sooooo needed right now. The winter here was not cold enough to kill them off. So . . . have to be on guard.

LOVE the photo of both Ember and Prisoner. CUTE!

    1. Prisoner has had some good experiences in his long life related to humans helping with medical things, including a maggot infested wound, and a lump that needed to be removed. So he's pretty OK with trusted human help. And if you loved those photos, I got a good one today!

  4. I will never forget the Thanksgiving my in-law's lab took off with the turkey carcass right from the table! No turkey soup that year.
