I stepped outside yesterday, thinking to take a photo of these beauties, that "live" in my back yard. There's actually a bee in there somewhere, buzzing about and pollinating the local flora, but he didn't make it into the photo.
As ALICIA363 (sister #3) noted in her blog yesterday, the plan was not to walk in the 100℉ heat (with a "feels like" of 105!), but to be inside. This motivated me to hurry up and wash cat fur and burr laundry, and vacuum, in the hopes of not triggering her allergies... because the plan was for her to show me her PT assigned exercises to work on her hip recovery. I anticipated the possibility of "mat work", and there was some. Some standing and counter balance work, too... but yes, some mat work. I got down and did some to keep her company. It was good for us!
The good news of this morning is that I heard from the trainer last night and we are going to attempt a workout this noon. He says he'll have to sit and rest more, per doctor's orders. I don't know about your work, but he's in a business where if you don't work, you don't get paid! Owner of the business or not, you need that stream of revenue to stay in business. But there's no reason he can't direct my workout from a seated spot!
I'm thinking with the most recent news, locally and nationally, that I will be masking up, as he's vulnerable at the moment. I know he's vaccinated against Covid 19, and so am I, but there's no sense taking chances with his health.
I did not go out for a walk this morning. It was already / still 80℉ at 7 a.m., and I did jog intervals yesterday, so I'm figuring the strength training will be enough for today.
I kind of puttered around, put water out for the cats who seem determined to spend time outside, fixed my yummy healthy breakfast, and paced indoors just to warm up for the day. In an hour or so I'll put on my workout clothes and head over for that promised workout!
Here's my encouragement to my friends out there: if you're in the HOT section of the country, remember to hydrate today! And let's do the best we can, from wherever we are in this crazy path called life, to make decisions to support our health and well-being, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. For LIFE is good! Spark on.✨💖
It would be nice to have a workout buddy, especially when she is a sister.
ReplyDeleteI think that some places are encouraging masks again even for vaccinated persons.
They are encouraging masking "in public indoor spaces" again. But they are not mandating it. And they are particularly advising it for those of us, even vaccinated, with either underlying conditions or "over 65". Welp, that's me.
DeleteSo glad to hear you’ll get to see your trainer!
ReplyDeleteI’m masking indoors too, despite having been vaccinated. Even if the vaccine is likely to keep you out of the hospital or from outright dying, there’s no guarantee of not contracting Long Covid, or passing the virus to others. The risk might be low, but the consequences are higher than I want to live with.
PS Still can’t see any new blog entries in my Blogger list, but they are popping up on my Wordpress reader list (including this brand new one!) so going with the Wordpress list, for now.
Yeah, I'm having trouble with my Reading List, too. Blogger must be having an issue.
DeleteIn one way I’m glad it’s not just me. On the other hand, I feel bad for everyone who is affected!
Delete(And I’m glad I have an alternative, I’m Wordpress.). I really do want to see if I can build a Group feed, at some point, that can function like the blogroll in the AG&M+TM page...
Tiger lilies or a similar genus? The color and the markings look similar to what grows in my garden.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I read a new variant has been identified in Florida. People are vaccinated against smallpox, polio, measles and the majority of drivers and their passengers wear seat belts; why do they refuse to be vaccinated against Covid?
It's 10 a.m. here, and already it's 88* with predicted 110* plus heat index for this afternoon. You are wise to stay inside today and stay safe.
Question: Do you have any idea why new blogs are not updated on the reading list? I find new posts when they are linked on MFP. It's probably something I'm doing or not doing, as the case may be. Thanks for any help you can provide.
The heat advisory is supposed to end for us tonight as a front moves through bringing storms and some relief from the oppressive heat and humidity.
Stay safe.
Blogger seems to be having some trouble with the Reading List... mine's not updating, either... my yesterday's blog did not show up, and when I went digging I found others I "follow" had not popped into it yet, either. I've previously noted that there seemed to be a lag with some things posting there! Which is sad. I have no idea why it lags or what the problem might be.
DeleteWhat I do as a work around, is every day when I'm ready to go through my reading list, I go to the "Manage" section and check each of my blogs that I follow individually, by clicking on their lines.
The lilies are Asian lilies, that have that Tiger Lily pattern. They were here when I bought the house in 1999, and have bloomed every year, since.
Glad you and your sis were able to get together yesterday and you'll be able to work with the trainer today. I'm sure he will appreciate your consideration of his health and well-being.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I've not worked a job since my 20's where I've been paid for holidays or vacations. I did have sick leave available for a bit of that time since my 20s. But, for the most part, no work, no pay.
So, paid time off has not been a part of my reality for the vast majority of my working years.
Today's training session will be a win-win in many regards. You are considerate, my friend. I'm sure your trainer appreciates you!

It was good to see both my trainer and the clients who work out with him before and after me. I was the only one of us who walked in with mask on. Trainer and I talked about it a bit, and the local situation, what the numbers are like, etc. And my not wanting to put HIS health at risk as he clearly still has a bunch of testing and diagnosis and hopefully a treatment plan ahead of him... he doesn't need extra risk on top of that!
DeleteHe said he might start encouraging the other trainers at his gym to mask up again, after seeing what the numbers do in the next week. It's a small gym, even if another trainer has folks scheduled there are never more than a handful of people there at once.
Clearly a story "to be continued" with patience and prayer.
Glad you and your sis could work out indoors and you learned some exercises to help your hip.
ReplyDeleteThat’s good news that your trainer is doing better. PHEW.
YES YES YES . . . . hydration is crucial in the hot weather!
And yes, definitely doing my best to make decisions that support my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being.
Well, better enough to pace himself and see a few of us through one workout this week. It was kind of touch and go, and there's more testing and such ahead for him. I'm grateful he has good medical help, and I'm praying they find answers and a plan for going forward.
DeleteWe're all doing the best we can, one day at a time!
way to go hugs

DeleteA benefit of retirement with a pension plus Social Security is knowing how much is available each month. Now we are in a race to not be "priced out" from our City due to steadily increasing home valuations and taxes which was not a factor in our retirement planning. Spouse (IT mainframe programmer) returned to full-employment after a brief retirement several years ago after tiring of tighter budgeting and watching the "cost of living" skyrocket.
ReplyDelete“Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans” – John Lennon – Poor Stuart's Guide.
I hear you about home valuations and taxes! It is happening here, too, and many other places, I'm sure.
DeleteBeautiful flowers. We have Day lilies that are still in bloom from Easter. So glad you could do some strength training inside today with sis. Too hot to be outside. Amazing how a little activity makes you anxious for more activity.
ReplyDeleteSad to hear that your trainer is dealing with so many challenges at the same time. Hope and pray that he finds a path forward to good health.
Took a beautiful walk today in 75F temps in bright sun. Shady trees were welcome. Dog got his nose full and I filled my bucket with beauty.
Well done you, and good for the doggie, too! I'll bet the direct sunlight felt especially warm, this time of year, especially if there was no wind, so no wonder shade trees were welcome. Even though... I gotta say... 75 sounds pretty nice from this afternoons "heat advisory" here.
DeleteThat's a great photo of those exquisite flowers. Amazing color and construction. Nature is such an artist!
ReplyDeleteI wish your trainer a continued recovery and a quick return to full-bodied work. Your concern and compassion for him are so clear, and your thoughtfulness cheers me up. I sure hope it cools down over there very soon.
We're supposed to get a break from the extremes over the weekend, along with (we hope) some rain.
DeleteThanks for your good wishes for my trainer.
Good for you and sissie! That's what my mom would call my sisters when talking to me. I think she was having fun with me!it was good of you to do some with her.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I cannot imagine our mother EVER calling any of us sisters "Sissie"! Or calling her own sister that, either. Mothers are allowed their own sense of humor, aren't they... and it varies from family to family.
Deleteflowers are lovely again, glad you managed a workout, yes I too am double vaccinated and will wear a mask inside for as long as I feel its right. Have a great day x
ReplyDeleteThank you. Reading a NYT article starring Dr. Osterholm from MN this morning about the "mysteries of Covid" make me sensitive to the fact that there remain a number of things we don't know about why it ebbs and flows (the contagion). But we're doing what we can, right? Well done.
DeleteGosh that sounds HOT!! But: you're able to cope . . . and to support both your sister and your trainer. That's OKM!!
ReplyDeleteThanks... it HAS been HOT this week. Glad we've got a break today!
DeleteSoooooo glad you heard from your trainer.
ReplyDelete💛💛💛
He has a meeting with the county, I think it is, tomorrow, so I don't know what time or if we'll get a session in. I look forward to seeing how he's doing, for myself, too... not just to the workout. Clucking like a mother hen, here!
